Think of SEER for your HVAC system as MPG for your car. A car with higher MPG is more fuel efficient and will save you money. An HVAC unit with a higher SEER rating will help you achieve energy savings.
  • What Is the AFUE Rating?
    Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency or "AFUE" shows you how much fuel is utilized and how much fuel is lost in a particular heating system. New heating systems are much more efficient than they used to be. If your home heating system is 10 years old or older, it could be about 60% efficient-meaning just 60 cents of every dollar you spend in gas to fuel the machine is actually utilized, and 40 cents is lost in the flue pipe. Today's new and improved heating systems are 80% to 90% efficient. When it comes time to replace your heater or furnace, you could see drastic energy savings reflected on your monthly bill.
